Weekend fun on the water
A couple of weeks ago, my husband decided that he wanted to get some jet skis. He found two listed on Craigslist for a really low price. The skis had rarely been used and were left untouched for years. They weren’t running, but he figured that even if he couldn’t get them running or could only get one running, it was still a good deal.
He and his dad got both of the jet skis running in time for this weekend so Rachel and Tyler (my sister-in-law and her husband) would have the opportunity to ride them.
On Saturday, we rode the jet skis and went tubing with Wayne and Laura’s boat. We were out on the water for about six hours. The next day, we realized we didn’t plan well. We were all sunburned and sore, and we had the Warrior Dash to get through (see this post for details about the Warrior Dash).
I have to say, my hubby snagged a great deal. He paid about a fifth of what we’d pay for two similar, running jet skis and a trailer. Within a few good days out on the jet ski, they’ll pay for themselves, especially if you consider what we would pay to rent jet skis. Now, we have something fun for guests to do on the water when they come out to visit. Hopefully, it will provide even more incentive for people to come see us! 🙂
This weekend is the first time I’ve ever ridden a jet ski, and I didn’t think I would care much about riding. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
We even took Newton out on the skis with us.
C’mon, you can’t help but smile after seeing these pictures of Newton. That’s why I wanted to share them. Maybe it’ll help cheer someone of the midweek blues.
He has his own little life jacket and a pair of “doggles”, and he rides in front of one of us on the seat. He likes riding fast the best. Fear of the water was something that we could never quite shake him of, but now, he loves the water.
We made a good neighborhood choice when we purchased our house because we only live a couple of miles up the street from our community’s beach area with a ramp. So, we can take a break from a long day working on the house or the yard and go out for an hour or two, no problem.
How was your weekend? Are you planning to do anything special for Memorial Day weekend?
