During my thrifting adventures in Idaho, I discovered many beautiful things. One of my most prized discoveries is the book pictured below.
I found it in a thrift store that was going out of business, and everything was an extra 75% off! I bought this book for about $0.50. It is a gardening book from the 1930s, called The New Garden Encyclopedia. Since beginning the process of purchasing a home, I have begun to cultivate an interest in gardening, and started to learn as much as I can. As I’ve been out thrifting, I’ve been keeping my eye out for books about gardening, but usually have had no luck.
While this book obviously doesn’t contain modern, up-to-date information about techniques or plant species, it is still an extremely interesting reference. There are sections for almost every gardening topic imaginable, and there are quite a few pictures.
I’m curious about the differences I’ll find between what that this book says and what the modern gardening authorities say about similar topics.
