Sorry for the unexplained hiatus

I apologize to every reader of this blog that I was absent for so long with no explanation.

I have been in the process of moving across the country to Southern Maryland. I was hoping to be settled and posting by now, but we had some delays in leaving California, and ran into some setbacks due to weather along the way. I will be in Southern Maryland within the next few days, and at that time, I will begin posting once again.

This next year should provide lots of interesting and entertaining posts. My husband and I would like to purchase a home to fix up, so there will undoubtedly be posts related to that adventure. I have also set many sewing goals for the new year. My plan is to improve my sewing skills by trying new techniques and advanced methods, and hope you all will enjoy learning new things with me.

Since I am a list person, I’ve begun (yes, this is just the beginning) making a list of some of my general goals for 2011:

-Set up an idea/style folder and organize sources of inspiration

-Revamp blog (separate sections for personal, sewing, etc)

-Blog more consistently (at least 3 times per week)

-Revamp website

-Get my Verity shop up to 2-4 sales per week by the end of the year.

-Sharpen sewing skills by reading and trying more techniques, etc

-Sharpen my pattern-making skills and general knowledge of design

-Improve my construction speed and efficiency

-Make at least 25 articles of clothing for myself (Eventually, I would like the only clothes I own to be those made by me)

-Add knitting to my list of skills

-Progress in understanding of spoken and written French- Practice at least once per week

-Find a part-time job that involves the use of my Journalism and/or English degree(s)

-Write a little bit…anything…at least once per day

-Read at least three books per month

-Send more thank you notes and greeting cards

-Try at least one new recipe every other week

-Set aside time for painting at least once per month

-Learn as much about DIY home improvement and renovation as I can, and put this knowledge into practice when we find a house

-Figure out my taste/style in interior design/décor

Again readers, I am truly sorry for my unexplained disappearance over the past month. I am pumped and ready for the next year, and will begin this year’s blogging journey within the next few days. I will start by telling you about some of the Christmas gifts that I made, and catching up on posts about items that I’ve recreated. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season, and thank you so much for reading!

Missed you but can’t believe you can post while traveling!! And that is quite a list, some of it similar to my own along the years (except for French ~ never could master that!) Best of luck and Blessings for safety and success!

You’re back!! LOL It was so much fun seeing you and Alex Sunday morning. I did a very terrible thing…forgot to call Ruth and let her know we would indeed be meeting you at McDonald’s at 10am!! She was sitting by her phone waiting for me to confirm this information! So sorry you didn’t get to see her but perhaps you all will be able to reconnect in June 2012 at our Coles Reunion in Brown County! Your grandmother has kept us posted on your trip and I was happy to hear that you arrived at Alex’ sister’s home safe and sound! Love you, Aunt Sarah

    • We had fun too! I am sad that I didn’t get to see Ruth, and I’m sorry I forgot to introduce you to Newton. Hopefully, Alex and I will be able to make it to the 2012 reunion. That would be great fun!

Glad you are back! and glad you are safe and sound at Alex’ sister’s home. I posted earlier but it didn’t show up. ?? Anyway, it was so good to see you Sunday. I’m very sorry that Ruth didn’t make it…that was entirely my fault for not letting her know the time got changed to 10am. She was waiting for me to confirm that….duh! Checked out the website and it’s very interesting.

Wow! Maryland! I had this crazy thought that we might meet some time since we both lived in Southern California. I guess that’s not happening! Anyhow, I’m glad you’re back to blogging and I’m happy for you in your new adventure in Maryland 🙂
