It’s Only Temporary
“It’s only temporary.”
Those words usually hold no solace for me. Temporary could be a month, or it could be many months. So, rather than reminding myself, it’s temporary, you can live with it, I’m going to make the best of it.
Now is my chance to experiment with things I would never try otherwise. The first of which is painting the floor in my sewing room. I want this room to look different from the rest of the house, so it can serve as a little retreat for creative activities.
Since I’m painting the subfloor, it will be OK if my plans go awry. The subfloor will eventually be covered by a secondary subfloor and the flooring.
The other reason why I’m paint the subfloor: it looked dirty, no matter what. Given that an animal had obviously been allowed to coat the entire carpet in its urine, the chances of the subfloor being unaffected are slim to none.
I’ve painted it a whitish color so far.
One wall will serve as a place for an inspiration board. There will be a brightly colored rug, and some other items to make the room less like a white room in an insane asylum.
This will be a wonderful creative space, and I am eager to start using it.
I’ve been working on moving some of our things to the house, and we’ll probably start living there this weekend.
For those who don’t know, we’ve been staying at my in-laws’ house for the past 6 months. They have a lovely little basement living area with a bedroom and bathroom, which they were kind enough to let us live in. We are very grateful to them for putting up with us for so long. 😉 It has been wonderful, and we’ve had a great time, though we are ready to have our own place again.
While we’ve been working on making the house livable, we’ve been driving back and forth from our house to their house. It takes about 40 minutes each way.
Needless to say, Alex and I are ready to stop driving back and forth, and have more time to work on the house.
The lack of posts is mostly due to my packing and cleaning the basement space. Alright…it’s also due to my being too lazy at the end or beginning of the day to set aside writing time. You’ll give me a pass for this week, right?
For anybody curious, I’ll post an update this weekend about the things we’ve been working on at the house.
Here’s a teaser:
