Yes, I definitely have a problem. And yes, when observing my color addiction, people have been known to reference Marie’s purple everywhere in Breaking Bad.
Here is a terrible photo of my wacky kitchen. As you can see, I have little blue accents everywhere. ;P Whatever… The color makes me happy, so why fight it?
Also, gotta love those wacky ’70s scallop cabinets in combination with that ugly tile, right? Ha! Just so much going on in there. It’s also extremely dark in the kitchen, because it’s pretty closed off from any natural lighting. Anyway, one day the kitchen will be reinvigorated, but for now I’ll just enjoy its “retro” (although, probably not in a good way, in this case) charm.
Anyway, this chalkboard shelf…decoration…thing in my kitchen was an upcycle from a thrifted item. I think I bought it for about $2.
Normally, I’m not a huge fan of painted furniture. But, I really wanted at least one piece of colored furniture. The original piece was black with hints of red peeking through, which just wasn’t my style. Plus, since all of our pieces of furniture have been hand-me-downs, I’m always trying to figure out ways to really make them mine.
I finally got up the strength of will to draft a renovation update. I must give you fair warning: this will be a LONG post because it has been over half a year since I’ve done a renovation update. (*Reminder: if you are not interested in posts about our home renovation, you can choose to subscribe to just the sewing & crafting section of this blog in the sidebar.*) Continue reading
I’m happy to report that I’m really making progress on my UFO pile lately. This is another item that I cut out last year but left unfinished. I drafted the pattern around the same time as my lace yoke sweetheart and dolman tops. It was as simple as cutting a yoke out of my basic shirt pattern and slashing and separating to create the pintucks. Continue reading
Can you believe it’s 2013? 2012 went by so fast. I was going to jump on the sewing blogger bandwagon and post a recap of my 2012 projects, but I figured if anyone is interested they can just look through the 2012 archives.
I didn’t post any goals for 2012, but I did in 2011. I looked back at those and was happy to find that I’d worked on most of them over the past two years. Many of the items on that list are ongoing goals that remain on my list for 2013. And since making lists is one of my favorite things to do, I’ve made a short list for 2013. It really helps me to enumerate my goals for the year. Displaying them publicly means that I’ll be more likely to strive for them. Continue reading
I haven’t posted an update about our home renovation in a LONG time, but Alex and I have been working on the house quite a but lately. We’ve been doing lots of demolition, and we’re getting very excited about seeing our vision come to life. We have set a goal to finish a large portion of the inside of the house before the warmth of spring arrives. That way we can focus on the outside of the house in the spring…
Destroying that old, nasty, moldy kitchen was invigorating!
We found another gem of a message left for us from the teenage girl who used to live here… Continue reading
So, we’re thinking about having an open-air concept house…OK. Not really. But we’ve been enjoying it while working on putting in our new sliding glass door… Continue reading
I thought I’d share what I do when I’m not working, cooking, gardening or sewing. Yep, it’s official, I’ve picked up another hobby: photography. Here are a few shots from this weekend. Continue reading
I just wanted to share a few of my favorite, recent finds…Vintage Lounge Chairs…Free Sewing Patterns…Free Bushel Basket…Estate Sale Sewing Goodies…Vintage spice cabinet… Continue reading
Spring means it’s time to bring out the warm-weather outfits…
…time to enjoy the re-emergence of my potted plants (Yay! :))…
…and time to take tons of photographs. Continue reading
