“Before” Pictures of the House

Here are some of the before pictures of our house. I will have some progress pictures from this weekend, soon. I’m also going to try to get some video walking through the house to give you an idea of the floor plan.

You will see in the pictures that there’s much to be done. We have many plans for remodeling the house. The first project will be moving the kitchen, and opening up the living area on the main level. First, we’re getting the house cleaned up, so that we can live in it, while working on it.

So, let’s start with the outside.

We got lucky when the seller agreed to put a new roof on the house. It was a foreclosure and the seller was a bank, so it was quite an unexpected blessing.

We had massive, overgrown bushes in the front and one on the side.

On the right side of the house, there was a huge apple tree, growing parallel to the ground and toward the house.

In this picture, the porch is to the left, and you can see part of the apple tree on the lower right side.

Now, let’s go inside…

Here’s a view of the backyard from the main level, kitchen windows.

So, that’s the main level.

Rather than post all of the before pictures of the house here, I have uploaded them all to a set on Flickr. When I get the chance, I will load some of the upper level and basement pictures on here. For now, you can see the upstairs and basement pictures in the Flickr set. Many of the pictures have more descriptions there as well. If you click on the slideshow below, it will take you to the Flickr set, or you can simply watch the slideshow, if you’d like.

Thanks, Sarah! It does have a lot of potential. There is so much to do. It’s overwhelming, but exciting at the same time. We have a lot of plans that we’ve been working on together. It’s going to be fun to share the process with everyone through this blog.
