I know I said I wouldn’t have a sewing post up again until January but I wanted to share my Christmas dress that I finished at the last minute before we left.
I’ve had the material for several years, and I think I bought it at the thrift store in Moscow, ID. It’s a light pink and white with snowflakes and reindeer. The dress is perfect for winter. It’s Christmas-y but not so much so that I can’t wear it at other times, earlier in the winter.
Unfortunately I didn’t have enough of it to match all the stripes up, plus the pattern didn’t really allow for them to match. I used a variation of the self-drafted cowl top pattern that I’ve used for years. I made it into a dress with a flared a-line skirt and short kimono-type sleeves.
Since I was down to the wire to finish this dress in time, I used hem tape on the hem and sleeves.
In other news, I’m a brunette!
We’ve had a wonderful time visiting with Alex’s family. We went to a Christmas Eve candlelight service.
I got to make my momma’s Maple Brunch Ring for Christmas breakfast. It’s one of my family’s Christmas morning traditions, and it was yummy.
We exchanged gifts,
We entertained ourselves by watching the dogs.
The third doggy family member, Jasper, is in the picture below.
We did a white elephant gift exchange
and enjoyed a delicious meal.
I hope all of you had a blessed Christmas with your families and friends!
An unrelated but important note about navigating this blog
This is just a quick note to all readers. I’ve never mentioned this before, but since I had somewhat of a mass exodus of followers when I posted an update about our house renovation, I think it warrants mentioning. You can separate the content of this blog using the navigation menu underneath the header. If you are only interested in sewing related posts, simply click on the Sewing & Crafting button. If you are only interested in reconstructions, click the Reconstructions & Thrifting button.
I’ve also made some changes to the subscription options in the sidebar. Readers now have the choice to subscribe only to certain categories of the blog, based on their interests. There is also an option below the email forms to subscribe in a reader of your choosing.
I’m working on a blog update that should make all of this easier to navigate.
