This dress is a reconstruction, sort of.
I purchased the fabric pictured below during my visit to G-Street Fabrics.

As I was looking for material to pair with it, I came across a basic knit t-shirt in my to-be-reconstructed pile. The greens in the shirt matched the greens in the fabric perfectly.
I decided to integrate the decorative button placket and collar from the vintage ’60s sewing pattern below, into a sleeveless bodice made with the t-shirt.
I traced and re-drafted the pattern to make the neckline wider and lower and the placket wider.
The button placket is solely decorative; it’s stitched on top of the bodice. There is facing around the neckline.
I made the skirt from the same material as the collar and placket. I added elastic at the empire waist.

Overall, I am happy with the result. It’s a comfortable summer dress that looks good with or without a belt. My new cut-out flats match perfectly.
