Quick and Easy Hairstyles
I thought you might be interested in seeing some of the hairstyles that I have done recently. On Monday I experimented with a variation on a bun. I needed something that would take me through errands in the morning and working on the house later in the day. Since my hair is still fairly short and layered, a regular bun that stays in place can sometimes be difficult to achieve. A few little buns work just fine though. Continue reading

Newspaper Clipping from Old Gardening Book
As I was perusing the old gardening book that I recently acquired, I made another interesting discovery. I found this old newspaper clipping which—judging by the author’s thumbnail picture—is probably from the 1950s. Continue reading

Dressing Properly for the Day
I have been wearing raggedy clothes non-stop for the past few weeks…I know that some feel you must dress your best every day, no matter what the day holds. My feeling is that it’s silly and inappropriate to dress up to do the type of work we’re doing each day. How do you feel about dressing for the task/day ahead? Continue reading

A New Window, Some Paint and More
The house is almost to the point where we can live in it comfortably…Here’s a look at the process of removing wallpaper, which I learned from my in-laws…I’ve finished the primer coat on the bedroom walls, ceiling, closets, and bathroom and sink area…This week, Alex put a new window where the kitchen will be moving. Continue reading

Bright Blue Hydrangeas
I have seen several beautiful hydrangea bushes in our neighborhood.
I would like to put hydrangea bushes at the corners of the front of the house (obviously, further away from the house than where the old bushes once resided).
So, what do you think? Yay, or nay on the hydrangeas? Continue reading
The Remodel Plan for the House
I figured this is a good time to give a general overview of our remodel plans for the house, and the order in which we will be working on different steps of the process.

Flowers and Polka Dots Dress
This dress is a reconstruction, sort of.
I purchased the fabric pictured below during my visit to G-Street Fabrics. Continue reading

House Update: June 16-19
We continue to make progress on the house. This is an update about what we did from June 16-19.
We tore out the rest of the floor in the main level. Well, my husband did the majority of that, but I helped with some of it. We needed to take all that old flooring out in order to start on the new kitchen. Continue reading

More Progress on the House (June 12-14)
Sunday through Tuesday, we made some more progress on the house.
I removed the carpet from the stairs and the second level. I had the most difficulty with the carpeting on the bottom half of the stairs. Continue reading

Progress on the house- Day 1 (Sat, June 11)
For our first work day, we (hubby and I, my mother-in-law, and later, my father-in-law) split up and tackled different tasks on the to-do list. Continue reading
